Food Court Design – District 18 City Hall, Tehran
This project involved the conceptual and architectural design of a public food court located within a community park under the jurisdiction of District 18 City Hall in Tehran, Iran. The design was developed collaboratively by a team of four, including Sara Rahimian and Fatemeh Ahmady.
The core concept for the food court was inspired by motifs from ancient Iranian architecture. Traditional geometric patterns and spatial principles were reinterpreted in a contemporary form, shaping the overall layout, circulation flow, and the relationship between built and open spaces. This approach created a culturally resonant atmosphere while maintaining modern functionality.
The food court includes multiple outdoor dining areas thoughtfully integrated with the landscape, providing comfortable seating and natural views. Several compact retail units—designed to operate as food-service kitchens and small shops—were positioned to ensure efficient circulation for both visitors and staff.
The project emphasizes accessibility, cultural identity, and user comfort, offering a vibrant and community-oriented destination within the park environment.
